JSTL Core - set tag

Sets the value of a scoped variable or a property of a target object.

Attributes

Name	Dynamic	Decription	Type
value	true	Expression to be evaluated.	Object
var	false	Name of the exported scoped variable to hold the value specified in the action. The type of the scoped variable is whatever type the value expression evaluates to.	String
scope	false	Scope for var.	String
target	true	Target object whose property will be set. Must evaluate to a JavaBeans object with setter property property, or to a java.util.Map object.	Object
property	true	Name of the property to be set in the target object.	String

How to use

Set a message to request and dispaly the message using out tag.

Syntax

Syntax 1: Set the value of a scoped variable using attribute value
<c:set value=”value” var=”varName” [scope=”{page|request|session|application}”]/>

Syntax 2: Set the value of a scoped variable using body content
<c:set var=”varName” [scope=”{page|request|session|application}”]>
body content
</c:set>
